About the Artist
Renata Doler Tisaj is a self-taught artist who has learned about drawing and painting in numerous online courses and tutorials featured by many highly skilled and recognized professional artists.
Art has always played an important role in her life. Portraits have been her focus since 2014. She has been encouraged by enthusiastic feedback from the ones she’s portrayed.
Her comment: “Of course likeness is extremely important and a basis for a good portrayal. But I am always trying to capture more than just a person’s facial features. Portraits to me are about people’s souls and spirits, their joie de vivre.”
Her passion - visual art and music
Her first passion was music, she graduated from the Academy of Music in Ljubljana as a pianist and then worked as a piano teacher in the Conservatory of Music for three years. As part of her music curriculum, she also took an art history class and soon discovered her new hobby and passion – visual art. She began visiting museums and art galleries, enjoying art, and appreciating the deep connection between the art of music and visual art.
In her search for new professional challenges, she finished her bachelor's degree in Business and Finance and her master's degree in Business administration a few years later. While working in corporate finance, she has spent hours and hours of her spare time studying drawing and painting.
