Can you paint from a photo, and what if my photo is not good quality?
Yes. The artist painted all paintings on this website from photos. Feel free to send an image or two of the person you would like her to portray. In her artistic process, she uses photos as a reference to achieve a perfect likeness. However, she is not making exact copies of the photographs but uses them as inspiration for her artwork.
You’d be surprised how a rather average or a poor quality photo can be a basis for a beautiful painting or drawing with excellent likeness. The artist created some of the portrayals from old, black and white small size photos, some even a bit blurry, but the result was still astonishing. Of course, a high-quality picture is a perfect start, but don’t worry: send what you have, and we’ll find a solution. Please check some example photos and portraits she created from them in the Commissions menu.
What sizes do you offer?
We offer various canvas and paper sizes. You can choose from different canvas sizes for your acrylic portrait, such as 30 x 40 cm (11,8 x 15,7 inch), 40 x 40 cm (15,7 x 15,7 inch), 40 x 50 cm (15,7 x 19,7 inch), 50 x 60 cm (19,7 x 23,6 inch) or any other size that you might prefer. For charcoal portraits the artist normally uses 29,7 x 42 cm (11,7 x 16,5 inch) and for graphite pencil portraits 21 x 30 cm (8,3 x 11,8 inch) paper.
Does your portrait painting include a frame?
Our price quotes do not include framing. Many portrait commission clients choose to do it themselves, primarily because they want to add their own touch to the painting by choosing the frame that reflects their style or matches their home decor. However, we'll be happy to help you pick the best framing solution for your painting and arrange the framing for you.
How much does your portrait cost, and how can I pay for it?
The amount of work and time needed to complete a portrait is different for different media, therefore the prices are lower for graphite pencil portrayals – EUR 450 and charcoal portrayals – EUR 700 for a 1-person drawing, whereas acrylic portraits start at EUR 1.200. Prices do not include shipping, framing, and tax.
Payments through all major credit cards are accepted. If you would like to use any other payment method, we can discuss it and find the most convenient solution.
Please see a more detailed price information table in the Prices menu.
How long will I have to wait for the finished portrait?
Charcoal and graphite pencil portraits usually take 1 to 2 weeks to complete. Normally, it takes up to 1 month to complete an acrylic portrayal, but we can schedule a 2-week time frame if the timing is of the essence for you. If you need an acrylic painting in 1 week, you can still send a request, and who knows, you might get lucky and find the artist on a less busy schedule.
Can I see the portrait while the artist is still creating it?
You will be able to see your portrayal in three stages. First, the artist will create and show you a pencil sketch. She usually draws a graphite pencil sketch on the chosen surface - colored ground canvas for acrylic portraits and paper for charcoal and graphite pencil portraits. Next, you will be able to see the portrayal when she captures the likeness and sets the basics of the portrait background. Last, we will show you the final portrait just before shipping.
Please check a more detailed description of the commission process steps in the Commissions menu.
Can I propose changes to the portrait?
Our goal is to deliver a portrayal you will adore, so we invite you to check the Gallery menu to see if you like our artist's painting and drawing style.
We will give you one opportunity to propose changes to the portrait. After we show you the finished artwork, you will be able to suggest one correction. After the artist performs the correction, your painting or drawing will be considered completed and ready for shipping.
